Chelsea signs Aston Villa striker

Chelsea are considering a shock move for Aston Villa's Jhon Duran to boost their attacking options in the second half of the season.

The Blues overcame Fulham at the weekend to make it three straight wins in the Premier League, but the London side still have problems to solve on the field. Mauricio Pochettino's team suffered a disappointing 0-1 defeat in the first leg of the English League Cup semi-final against Middlesbrough and their attack has not been really stable since the beginning of the season.

While Nicolas Jackson is playing at the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal, summer signing Christopher Nkunku continues to struggle with injury. Although the Frenchman will soon return to training with the first team, Chelsea are said to be considering strengthening their attacking depth with a short-term loan deal.

Chelsea is considering loaning Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran to strengthen their attacking options in the second half of the season. The Colombian, who joined Chicago Fire last season, has two Premier League goals this season but is yet to start a match due to Ollie Watkins' form and consistency.

This 20-year-old player is also a target of AC Milan's interest, but the Blues are hoping they will get what they need when they accept to spend 5 million euros to borrow Duran until the end of the season. Chelsea is rumored to recruit Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney, but it is difficult for them to accomplish their goals because both have huge transfer fees.

Perhaps borrowing Duran for a short time, before waiting until the summer of 2024 to buy a big striker is a reasonable step for Chelsea. The problem now is whether Aston Villa will release their players or not. Coach Unai Emery wants to keep the players in the squad to ensure squad depth.
