Coach Mikel Arteta has defended young Arsenal goalkeeper Karl Hein after a poor performance in the 3-1 loss to Brighton in the third round of the EFL Cup.
This morning, Arsenal had a match against Brighton at home in the third round of the English League Cup. It was a match in which manager Mikel Arteta made 10 changes to Chelsea's 1-0 win, most notably by giving 20-year-old Karl Hein the chance to debut. This goalkeeper was suddenly given the opportunity instead of Matt Turner.

Karl Hein played badly against Brighton
However, the Estonian goalkeeper played badly. He fouled Danny Welbeck in the box, giving the striker a chance to score from the spot. This goalkeeper was also criticized for the third goal of the home team.
Speaking at his post-match press conference, manager Mikel Arteta defended goalkeeper Karl Hein after his poor performance against Brighton. “ I think Hein deserves a chance,” he said. He's the goalkeeper of the Estonian national team, he's certainly a capable man."
“Mistakes are part of the heat, but I believe Hein will get better after his debut. The results don't reflect what happened on the pitch, I think that's clear. We had the opening goal, but the lack of concentration on defense cost us."
"It's a pity for the boys because I think they really tried and we should have scored two or three goals in the second half. I would pick the same players if I had the chance again."
